Abstract

Investigations have been conducted to determine the heavy metal pollution rate of the crops grown in the nearby areas of Martuni-Vardenis highway and to identify their distribution in the plant organs. According to the obtained data, in the grains of winter and spring wheat and in the potato tubers cultivated in the adjacent areas of the mentioned highway the copper content exceeded the control sample in 1.13-1.30, 1.06-1.18, 1.07-1.28 times, while the lead content – in 2.20-3.05, 2.94-4.71, 1.51-1.82 times. The maximum heavy metal accumulation has been recorded in the roots.
