Bioeconomy is referred as a main contributor to solve several of the big societal challenges (e.g. biodiversity loss, climate change, raw material shortage, etc.). But the concept of Bioeconomy does not have a general acknowledged description. This article gives a historic background, describes the present concepts and gives an overview of planed political strategies and action plans.
